Question 1: Why are we not doing a similar plan as Dubuque Community Schools with their hybrid plan addressing social distancing?
To follow proper social distancing guidance of 6 feet, we would have to split our students up into groups of 3 or 4, depending on the different classroom sizes. This would mean students would rotate and only attend in-person schooling on a 1 out of every 3 or 1 out of every 4 days.

Question 2: What is the plan for positive cases?
We continue to wait for guidance from our counties regarding student attendance (Dubuque, Jones, and Jackson). In lieu of having their direct guidance, we will follow the guidelines from the Linn County Public Health.

Question 4: What is the process to make an official decision on if my child(ren) will be attending in-person, virtually, or choosing to unenroll from WDCSD to homeschool or attend another school?
For families planning on choosing the virtual option for the fall, the Official Virtual Learning Registration is on our district website. If you select this option, your child(ren) will be placed in our distance learning system for the entire first trimester which runs from August 13th through November 19th. After completing both this virtual learning registration form, as well as the yearly District registration process, an administrator or district employee will be in contact with you on the next steps in this virtual option.
Please note: The Official Virtual Learning Registration form is due by Friday, July 31st.

Question 14: What are the summer dates for prom and graduation?
We have set two potential dates for prom and graduation. If we are able to gather larger groups together in June, we will hold prom on June 20th and graduation on June 28th. If the restrictions are not lifted until July, we will hold prom on July 18th and graduation on July 26th. The exact time for prom has not been determined yet, but graduation will be held at CHS at 12:30 and at WDHS at 2:00. If we are unable to hold a traditional graduation ceremony on either of the dates selected, we will hold a virtual ceremony on July 28th. If we don’t have a traditional graduation ceremony, we will not have prom either.
