Some children are born shy, and that's okay. But since interacting and speaking up are important school skills, helping shy children learn how to cope is essential. Brainstorm a list of situations with your child that make them feel shy. Then role-play these situations together. Help your child make a list of things he/she can do to manage their shyness. For example, your child may find speaking to others easier one-on-one, or when he/she has something prepared to say.
